Welcome to the Encouragement Blog Hop- I am so excited to be a part of this hop. This hop was made to bring crafters together to create cards for patients at St. Jude’s, the Ronald McDonald House and a hospice by Courtney, Jen & Mary. I have a video showing how to make this card here.
I wanted to make an interactive card for a child at St. Judes that would be fun and give a sweet message. I chose to make a magic picture changer with the Lawn Fawn Ahoy Matey stamp set.
- First I traced the outside of each of the 2 dies needed to create the mechanism of the magic picture changer and also traced part of the inside square so that I could plan out the scene. I stamped the inside images of the changing scene, masked them and then use distress ink tea dye to color blend a sand background.
- I then copic colored all the images and stamped and die cut all the rest that were needed to make this scene. Taking a new piece of cardstock, I colored blended distress ink tea dye on the lower half and mermaid lagoon on the upper half. I created a speckled look on the water by spraying the upper part with distress oxide ink mermaid lagoon spray and on the sand with bronze and white paint. I then assembled the card as shown in the video.
