Island Hug & Squishies

Welcome!  Today I have another installment of Swamp Thing & Bigfoot’s “Hello from….” it is a postcard from an island with palm trees.  I used several products including the Layered Palm Tree stencil, the Crafty Post stamp & die set, Unbelievable stamp & die, and the Hugs & Squishies stamp & die.

First I die cut a postcard out of 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock and light blue cardstock.  The card was an A2 sized base made from an acetate sheet (Lawn Fawn).  I die cut the monsters from 110 lb Neenah solar white cardstock and copic colored them Big Foot was colored with Light & Dark Crumb cake (Stampin Up markers) and Swamp Thing & the turtle were colored with YG61 & YG63.

The beach sand was made by using the Layered Palm Tree stencil bottom of one of the stencils and ink blending with distress oxide ink in tea dye. The palm trees were made by ink blending distress ink in mowed lawn for the largest area, distress ink in lucky clover for the middle area and distress ink in pine needles for the smallest area.  The tree trunks were ink blended with distress oxide ink in tea dye and brushed corduroy.

Finally I made masks for the trees and then ink blended the sky with distress oxide ink in speckled blue.  I made some glitter splatters with Inkon3 Liquid Pixie Dust.

Sending Warm Wishes

Hello there!  Today I have a slimline card using dies from super sponsor Trinity Stamps stamps from The Greetery that I had been saving (hoarding) since they came out last fall.  I paired them with some new inks that I had just purchased from super sponsor Concord & 9th and I’m so pleased with the result!

First I die cut a slimline scalloped panel using the Slimline Series: Scalloped Card Panels & Banners die from Trinity Stamps and then die cut windows into the panel with Slimline Series Stitched Card Panels & Windows dies  and 110lb Neenah cardstock in solar white and plain vellum.  I love this cardstock because it is so easy to ink blend and copic color on!  I ink blended Distress Oxide ink in speckled egg onto the panel- someone may have to take that color away from me- I always tend to grab it to use on my cards!

I die cut the coaster (Greetery, Cozy Cup Coaster die) out of Lawn Fawn speckled yellow cardstock and stamped a sentiment with Memento ink in tuxedo black.  The cup of coffee (Greetery, Cozy Cup stamp set) is stamped with new Concord & 9th ink in grapefruit and sorbet & Lawn Fawn ink in crunchy leaf and then die cut (Greetery, Cozy Cup die set).  It took me a few times to line everything up right- don’t feel frustrated if it doesn’t work out the first time- it helps to use a MISTI and stamp out several images so that you are guaranteed to get at least one perfect one to use!

The branches with leaves (Greetery, Cozy Cup stamp set) are stamped with new Concord & 9th ink in parsley and sprout.  Again, I stamped multiple images to ensure that I got a few good ones; the MISTI was so useful to re-stamp with the same color ink multiple times. The spoon took me several tries as well and I stamped the entire spoon with My Favorite Things ink in Grout Gray (the darker portion was just stamped many times with the same color).

I hope that you will try out the new Concord & 9th inks, I enjoyed using them and will definitely be buying the larger size ink pad.

Hay There Morning Magic Card

Hi there!  Today I’m sharing a card that depicts the magic of early mornings to me. I didn’t grow up on a farm (I wish I had though), but I’ve always been an early riser and would go for early morning runs.  I’m using Hay Daze slimline stamp set paired with the Ei-ei-o Word dies.

It funny, because I often with start out with a vision and end up with something different.  I had thought that I would do snapshots of the farm with some photobombing critters, but it just took too much away from the view.  I guess that I love early morning views, it reminds me so much of lazy early mornings growing up, when usually the only other person up in the household was my dad.

I die cut slimline panels using Trinity stamps dies, and set to work using copic markers instead of watercolors as I have been doing lately. I used 3 sets of markers for the grass YG67, YG63 and YG61.  I am slowly expanding my copic marker set and the color I have most of is green(s).  To create highlights, I added white gel pen markers, colored over the marks with YG63 and then added Cosmic Shimmer Paste in Frosty Dawn Sparkle with a paintbrush as you can see below.  The paste has light coral sparkles that really add a lotto the morning scene.  I added them all over- all the patches of grass and the the HAY there sentiment from the Ei-ei-o Word dies.  I cut out 3 sets of die cuts to layer on top of each other to create dimension, followed by painting with glitter paste for sparkle.

Finally I colored the rest of the scene, Y23, Y21 & Y000 for the flowers and sun. Stampin up markers in Dark & Light crumb cake for the fields, hay and fence. The barn in R14 & R35, the roof and silo in C3 & C5 and the inside of the flowers in Y38, YR24 and YR27.  If you don’t have a color that you want to use- just layer copics over one another- for the inside of the flowers I use Y38 and YR24 layered over it.

Picnic With Coffee Card

Hi everyone!  I am so excited to be here for my post on the CLC DT! I have an interactive card for you of a picnic with COFFEE!  I grew up partly in Germany and pretty much daily at around 3pm is “Kaffeetrinken / Coffee Drinking” (similar to tea time in the UK) that is usually served with a cake.  When I was younger I would just, of course, eat the cake!

I made a picnic scene with the adorable mice from the Crazy Antics stamp set coupled with the Slide on Over Maze die. I added coffee cups from the Love You A Latte stamp and die set  that slide around the picnic.

I stamped the Crazy Antics stamp set (Memento tuxedo black ink on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock) and then die cut all the images with Crazy Antics die set.  The mice were colored with W3 and W00 copic markers. I also stamped and die cut the images from the Love You A Latte and Birthday Before N’Afters stamp sets in the same way and then copic colored them with Y21, YR21 and R20 copic markers.  I die cut a rectangle to form the picnic blanket out of older Lawn Fawn plaid cardstock; the grass was die cut with Trinity Stamps Slimline Series: The Great Outdoors Borders & Builders die set using green cardstock I had in my stash.

To put the card together, I die cut a maze into the plaid cardstock and foam- and then added slider elements to the coffee cups prior to gluing all the parts together.  I stamped a sentiment on a banner and added a few sequins.

Field of Goats Card

Hello there! Today I have a simple slimline with 2 techniques that I have wanted to try forever.  Today’s slimline card is heavily influenced by a card that Nicky Meek  @nickynoocards made using the Miss Ink Stamp Punny Farm Pigs stamp last year; her cards are absolutely stunning! I also incorporated a technique using an in-laid alpha sentiment as part of the slimline scene using the new Scene Builder Meadow stamp– I have always wanted to try that as well!

I stamped the background scene on 110 lb Neenah solar white cardstock and then placed the alpha dies (Trinity Stamps) on top- it took me a little while to figure out where I wanted the sentiment!  Then I die cut the sentiment into the scene and ink blended speckled egg distress oxide lightly onto the outer portion of the card panel, as shown below.

I die cut 3 letters for each letter in the sentiment (15 letters total) and glued them together so that each final letter consists of 4 layers.  I did simple copic coloring with G43 and B0000 to just softy make the hello sentiment part of the scene before gluing it onto the card.

I decided that the card did need a border to tie everything together, as Nicky Meek had done in her card, so I ink blended a simple border that was die cut and fussy cut with a die from Trinity Stamps (Slimline Series Lift The Flap) with speckled egg distress ink.  I stamped and die cut the goats and letter from the Punny Farm Goats stamp set with my Brother Cut-n-Scan2 and then did simple coloring with W0 and W3 copics.  Not trusting myself to create a letter in flight, I used a stitched die from Lawn Fawn to create a little more interest in the card.

Summer Treehouse Card

Hello! Today I’m inspired by the Trinity Stamps Crafty Troop Challenge (the theme is summer) to create a summer card using the new Treetop Adventures stamp & die, paired with the Marshmallow Alpha dies, Slimline Card Series Scalloped Card Panels die set and the Slimline Series Great Outdoors Borders & Builders die sets.  The Treetop Adventures stamp set is so adorable and I immediately fell in love with it!

I die cut all the images from the Treetop Adventures stamp set with the coordinating die set and then spent the most time coloring all the images in with copic markers.  I used 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I used the following copics G43, G46, YG61, E37, E35 & E44 for the tree, E44 and gold acrylic paint for the house, BG13 & B000 for the banners, BG13, B000, YR21, Y21, E000 & YR01 for the kids.  It is easier to see in the photo below that I used a light layer of gold paint for the treehouse itself.

I die cut a light blue cardstock panel with the Slimline Card Series Scalloped Card Panels die set for the card panel and splattered 2 types of gold acrylic paint onto it to give it a dreamy look.  I added glitter paster to several parts of the tree (see above).  I die cut grass and a white picket fences with the Slimline Series Great Outdoors Borders & Builders die set out of 110lb cardstock in white and green. Finally, I die cut adhesive gold cardstock with the Marshmallow Alpha dies to create the sentiment.

Firetruck Duck card

Welcome!  I have another slimline card for you today featuring the Firetruck Duck stamp set and a lot of splishy, splashy watery embellishments including the Wave stencil!  I hope that you get the sense that I had a lot of fun making this card!

To make the card, I made a slimline card base with the dimensions of 8.5 inches by 3.5 inches and then die cut a slimline scalloped panel that had windows in it (all dies from Trinity Stamps) out of blue cardstock in my stash.  I knew that I wanted to make a shaker card so I die cut the same panel out of white foam and cut only with the scalloped panel die out of acetate.  To make the shaker, the gluing order was blue panel, acetate, foam, fill with shaker raindrops sequins (Trinity Stamps) before adhering it to a 8 inch by 3 inch white cardstock piece (can be die cut or cut by hand); I used Gina K connect glue because it allows movement of the items before it dries.  Once I had this sandwich complete, I adhered it with strong double sided tape to the slimline card base.

To create the acetate waves on the front of the card, I used Versamark ink with the Wave stencil on Lawn Fawn acetate (the only one that I found stands up to heat well without warping) prior to adding Wow embossing powder in “Under The Sea” color.  I then used a heat gun as I normally would; the acetate did not warp!

I then fussy cut individual waves and adhered them as you can se below.  The advantage of making individual waves is that you can first place them, cut anything you don’t want and then adhere them to your project without committing first like you would if you were to directly heat emboss the cardstock panel.  I think the acetate also enhances the shimmer of the embossing powder!

I die cut all the Firetruck Duck stamp images with my Brother Scan-n-cut2 and then simply copic colored them with R46, RV29 (firetruck, hydrant, hat), Y21, YR21 & YR68 (ducks) B000 (water) and C3, C5 (hose, tires).  I added sequins from Trinity Stamps and white gel pen marks to highlight certain areas.
