Flower Garden Card

Jun22-CBK1

Hello there- happy first day of summer!  I hope that your flowers are blooming where ever you are.  Today I’m sharing a card in which I envisioned Alice arriving in the Flower Garden.  In the book, she is much smaller than the flowers and then grows quite taller.  I love the Leafy Green stencil and decided to pair it with the Alice and Springtime Banners stamp sets.

I used the new distress oxide ink color speckled egg with the Leafy Green stencil by intensely blending the color with a Trinity Stamps Blending buddy through the stencil onto 110 lb cardstock.  I left the stencil on, wiped off the excess ink and then put glitter paste on with a palette knife.  Be sure to clean your stencil right away after using any glitter paste!  I knew that I didn’t have to be perfect, as I had planned to use the banners, flowers & green stems from the Springtime Banners that would cover up any errors. I then let the panel dry for most of the day.

I die cut all the images with my Brother Scan n Cut2, copic colored them with various shades of blue & green: G43, G46, G85, B63, B91, B97 & B99.  I copic colored Alice with YR21, Y21, B63 and E00.  The hardest part was placing all the flowers and stems- I have a tip for you that I found from Jennifer McGuire- use Cling plastic wrap once you have achieved the placement you like.  This will pick up all the images at once, so that you can flip over all the loose images, apply glue and get it glued down.  I have had shaky hands at the moment and this helps me tremendously so that I don’t mess anything up!

As a final touch, I decided to add yellow sequins that ties together Alice’s hair with the entire color palette of blues and greens.  I hope I have inspired you to pull out your stencils!  Thank you for stopping by!

Sympathy Magnolia Card

Jun 7 CBK-1

Today I have a sympathy card to share with you.  Sympathy cards are so difficult to make, so I have a simple one that really allows the sentiment to pop. I’ve used the Magnolia Sympathy stamp set which has the perfect sentiments to use on your card.

The most labor intensive part of the card is stamping all the images from the Magnolia Sympathy stamp set perfectly with Versamark ink so that the heat embossing displays the entire image.  I’ve stamped the floral images with Versamark ink onto Bazzill heavy weight vellum; the only vellum that I have found to be able to stand up to heat embossing without warping.  I used Brutus Monroe Gilded embossing powder, which has gold sparkle within the gold embossing powder.  I stamped a few more images, which I then fussy cut. Here is a closeup of the shine:

I did a little bit of copic coloring at the center of the flowers with G24.  A couple of sequins added a bit more color to a card that I thought should have a lot of white space so that the sentiment (stamped in Hero Arts Black ink) would pop (banner is cut in vellum using Trinity Stamps Banner die).  A sympathy card is all about the sentiment and sending condolences.   I hope that you enjoyed this simple card; it is an easy one to make when your heart is heavy with sadness.

Happy Birthday Card

Jun 3 CBK-2

I have a slimline shaker floral card for you today that uses the Marshmallow Alphabet die set, the Slimline Series: Envelope Builder Die Set and the Sunflower Bouquet Builder stamp & die set.

The slimline card base has the dimensions 8.5 inches by 3.5 inches, and to it I adhered an 8.5 inch by 3.5 inch panel from Lawn Fawn Dandy Day cardstock in yellow.  I die cut a frame out of solar white Neenah 110lb cardstock and white foam with the Slimline Series: Envelope Builder Die Set.  I enclosed some Fish Flakes confetti to create the shaker component as seen below.

To make the sentiment I die cut moss cardstock (no specific brand, I just had it in my stash) with the Marshmallow Alphabet die set.  I stamped all the images from the Sunflower Bouquet Builder stamp with Lawn Fawn crunchy leaf ink (it is copic marker friendly) & cut out the images with the Sunflower Bouquet Builder die set.  I colored the sunflowers with copics Y21, YR21, YR15 and YR27 and added black and white gel pen marks to create some dimension.

I adhered everything in place, and then added a few extra yellow sequins in the middle of the flowers and on the sides.  A bow made of twine finished off the bouquet.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Flower Bookmark Coffee Mug Card

CBKmar11

Welcome!  Today I’m showing a project that I made for Trinity Stamps new challenge- this month focuses on flowers.

To make the card:

  1. I die cut a mug card base and inner gift card panel with the Coffee Mug Card die out of Neenah 110lb solar white cardstock.  I then did a partial die cut of the front of the mug out of a piece of acetate and a piece of blue vellum.  I heat embossed the sentiment from the Folded Hug stamp set on top of the acetate- this is a special acetate from Lawn Fawn which is a heavy weight acetate that won’t warp when a heat gun is applied to it!  I adhered the sides of the inner panel only to the card base and the top 2 layers to the front with double-sided adhesive 1/8 inch tape.
  2. I used Ken Oliver watercolor paper (my new favorite) which is a heavy weight watercolor paper that can withstand quite a lot of moisture without warping (notice a trend here?).  I heat embossed the Love You Bunches stamp set image and then die cut it with the Love You Bunches die.  I also die cut a book mark from the Narrow Card and Bookmark Die with Envelope from Neenah 110lb cardstock that I will use later.
  3. I had recently gotten some new Ken Oliver dry watercolors (grape jelly, jellybean green, coral crush & razzle berry) and I was itching to use them! I love having sparkly elements on my cards, so I made first made a solution of water with Ranger Perfect Pearls (Biscotti has a faint golden sparkle) and then used this solution to reconstitute each watercolor on an acrylic block as shown below.  Using a paint brush I applied color to the embossed image.CBKmar11-3
  4. Once the image was dry, I adhered the bookmark to the back of the watercolored image as seen below.  I added some white gel pen markings to create some highlights on the flowers.CBKmar11-4
  5. The bookmark slides into the inner panel as shown below:CBKmar11-2

I hope that this project inspires you to enter into the challenge which can be found here: Trinity Stamps March Challenge.  Don’t forget to link up your project and then you can proudly show off this badge!  Thank you for stopping by!
